Snowball

CG Animated Short Film | Coming Soon!

Synopsis
A young girl receives a baby polar bear named Snowball for her birthday. She falls in love with it, carrying it along wherever she goes. As the young girl ages into adulthood, we see the polar bear also grow, becoming larger and more difficult to care for. The young girl ultimately decides to let the polar bear go and leaves it behind while remembering their time together. They part ways, and we see a stuffed polar bear appear in her bedroom with the name, Snowball, letting us know that the polar bear was her stuffed toy from the beginning.

The story shows how our imagination changes as we grow older. We see this not only through the eyes of a child, but also as an audience, since we imagine the polar bear as a real animal, allowing us to remember our childhood fantasies, just as she did.

Snowball was created in graduate school as part of my Master of Science thesis. The project also researches coming-of-age themes in animated storytelling.
